Metal Casting the Foundation of Urban Safety: Luzhongbao Leads National Manhole Cover Standardization

One national standard, countless urban lifelines—Hubei Luzhongbao Metal Products Co., Ltd. steps onto China’s standardization stage.

Recently, Luzhongbao was formally invited to Beijing to co-draft China’s national standard Urban Public Facilities—Manhole Cover Operation and Maintenance Service Specifications. Led by the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) and managed by the National Technical Committee for Urban Public Facility Services, this pivotal standard will redefine China’s manhole cover technical requirements and service systems.

As Central China’s benchmark for advanced building materials manufacturing, Luzhongbao now joins top research institutes and industry leaders in drafting the "national blueprint" for urban public facility safety.

I. The Weight of National Standards: Process, Significance & Strategic Value

National standard formulation demands rigor. China’s standardization system involves nine stringent stages:

`Preliminary → Proposal → Drafting → Consultation → Review → Approval → Publication → Reassessment → Withdrawal`

Each phase blends technical precision and governance. For example, proposals undergo SAC’s feasibility studies and industry coordination before approval.

National standards unify technical requirements nationwide. Approved by SAC, they shape critical economic and technological domains. Each standard:

Embodies cutting-edge industry consensus

Directs industrial trajectories for 5+ years

Embodies national strategy—where decimal points in manhole cover specs impact public safety

II. From Enterprise to National Standard: The Leap of Responsibility

Participation certifies a company’s technical authority. Per China’s Standardization Law, drafting units bear full responsibility for technical content—marking national recognition of Luzhongbao’s expertise.

Standards drive industry upgrades. When Hanzhong City enforced GB/T 23858—installing anti-fall nets in flood-prone areas and reinforcing damaged covers—urban safety surged.

Luzhongbao’s innovations now elevate national practice:

- Patented rotary-lock anti-fall net structures

- Trapezoidal neoprene gasket sealing technology

Field-tested solutions from millions of covers in Central China’s extreme climates are becoming universal norms.

Beyond commercial interests, Luzhongbao emphasizes:

> "We contribute not just technology, but a decade of empirical data from 1M+ covers in harsh environments—essential for nationally applicable standards."

III. Urban Safety’s Future: Standards-Led High-Quality Development

The new standard fills critical gaps in maintenance services, shifting focus from construction to management.

Smart covers will become urban IoT nerve endings, integrating 5G/AI/big data for real-time monitoring. Luzhongbao’s R&D already aligns with this vision.

Standardization forces industry evolution:

Unified specs eliminate outdated capacity

Technical thresholds rise

New standards will catalyze ¥10B+ market upgrades

Luzhongbao is building a standards-driven ecosystem:

- Establishing a national cover testing center in Hubei

- Partnering with universities for specialized talent

- Creating a "technology → standards → industry" virtuous cycle
